MCITP : Database Administrator is the premier certification for database server administrators. The MCITP certification demonstrates that you can keep up with your enterprise business solutions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
MCITP : Database administrators install or configure Microsoft SQL Server and manage or maintain databases or multidimensional databases, user accounts, database availability, recovery, and reporting. In addition, MCITP DBA's also design or implement security or server automation and monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server activity. Database administrators are typically employed by mid-size to large organizations.
MCITP candidates for this exam are professional database administrators who optimize and maintain database solutions. They have three or more years dedicated to database work, which may include two or more of the following phases in the product lifecycle: design, development, deployment, optimization, maintenance, or support. The typical work environment is an enterprise or a medium-sized organization. MCITP candidates should be experienced in using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

1. Earn your MCTS: SQL Server 2005 by passing- the following exam:
- MCTS Exam 70–431: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance
2. After earning this certification, candidates earn their MCITP: Database Administrator by passing two required exams.
- MCITP Exam 70–443: Designing a Database Server Infrastructure by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005
- MCITP Exam 70–444: Optimizing and Maintaining a Database Administration Solution by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005

Upgrade to the MCITP: Database Administrator certification
1. If you are a current MCDBA you may upgrade to the MCITP : DBA.
2. Earn your MCTS: SQL Server 2005 by passing the following exam:
- MCTS Exam 70–431: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - Implementation and Maintenance
3. You may upgrade by taking only one exam:
- MCITP Exam 70–447: MCITP Upgrade for existing MCDBA Database Administrators.
